Commander Matt Boren

CDR Boren assumed the duties of Commanding Officer of HSM-74 in December of 2013.  He has completed two tours with HSL-44 deploying aboard USS Hayler (DD 997), USS Vicksburg (CG 69), and USS Klakring (FFG 42) and serving as Detachment OIC in USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) and USS James E. Williams (DDG 95). He has also deployed aboard the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) as Safety Officer, Mini Boss, and Air Boss.  CDR Boren has served as an Instructor Pilot at HSL-40 on two separate occasions, and was selected as the HSL-40 Pilot of the Year in 2003. He has also attended the Naval War College and served as the Deputy Inspector General to Commander, USSOCOM and Commander, Joint Special Operations Command.






Commander Teague Laguens

CDR Laguens assumed the duties of Executive Officer of HSM-74 in December of 2013. He initially deployed with the Scorpions of HSL-49 aboard USS DAVID R. RAY (DD 971), USS LASSEN (DDG 82), USS SHILOH (CG 67), and USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60).  With the Raptors of HSM-71 as part of the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) Strike Group, he deployed as OIC in USS KIDD (DDG 100) and then as the squadron Maintenance Officer.  Ashore, he completed a “split tour” between VX-1 and HSM-41 testing and teaching the MH-60R, served as Flag Aide to Commander, Naval Air Forces (CNAF), and worked as the Strategic Communication Plans Chief for NORAD and USNORTHCOM in Colorado Springs, Colorado.






CMDCM (AW/IDW/SW) Frank Cannizzaro 

CMDCM Frank Cannizzaro was born in Detroit, MI.  He enlisted in the Navy in September 1989.  His previous assignments include: USS Yellowstone (AD-41) in Norfolk, NCTAMS EURCENT in Naples, Italy, USS Spruance (DD-963) and USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49) in Mayport, FL, USS Dextrous (MCM-13) in Manama, Bahrain, NCTS Sicily in Sigonella, Sicily, USS Denver (LPD-9) in Sasebo, Japan, and NCTS Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL.  Masterchief Cannizzaro is a qualified Aviation Warfare Specialist, Information Dominance Specialist, and Surface Warfare Specialist.
