Chief Steven R. Cosgrove, a native of Nazareth, Pennsylvania and 1991 graduate
of Pen Argyl High School, enlisted in the Navy in February 1993. Upon completion of basic training at Recruit
Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Fire Controlman (FC) “A”
School. He then completed MK 92 Fire
Control System Class “C” school at Dam Neck, Virginia.
graduation, he reported for duty onboard USS CURTS (FFG 38) in San Diego,
California where he served as a MK 92 Fire Control System Technician from
November 1994 to November 1999.
reported to Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island where he served as an
Information Resources Department computer technician from December 1999 to

Master Chief in February 2015.
He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 185 (Khaki
Group) and the Command Master Chief Course Class 138. He also earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare
qualification, Master Training Specialist designation, etc.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation
Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and
various unit and campaign medals.
