Command Master Chief Kurt M. Roth entered Naval Service on October 6th, 1992 and attended recruit training at RTC Orlando, Florida, Company I002. Upon completion of recruit training, he reported to PCU Kearsarge in Norfolk, Virginia as an undesignated Seaman Recruit. During this tour, he advanced to Boatswain’s Mate Second Class and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification and completed two Mediterranean deployments. In September 1997, BM2 Roth transferred to USS Arctic (AOE 8) as Work Center Supervisor for 1st Division. During this tour he qualified as a Landing Signalman Enlisted and advanced to BM1 and completed two Mediterranean deployments as Leading Petty Officer of RAS division. In 1999, BM1 Roth transferred to Naval Station Norfolk, Port Operations as Dock Master and Contracts Manager. In February 2002, BM1 Roth reported to USS Mahan (DDG 72) as LPO of Operations Deck Division and that same year was selected for Chief Petty Officer. During this tour, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and Operations Department LCPO and completed two Mediterranean deployments.

 

In October 2005, BMCS Roth transferred to Inshore Boat Unit 42 in Portsmouth, Virginia as LCPO. There he earned his Expeditionary Warfare and Combat Coxswain qualifications. In July of 2006, BMCS Roth transferred to Riverine Squadron TWO, Detachment 2 as LCPO. During this tour, he completed two combat tours in Iraq in support of OEF/OIF supporting 3/2 Marines, US Army 24 ID, and 1/10 Cavalry from Al Quiem to Basrah. In March 2010, BMCS Roth transferred to Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Norfolk as Services Department LCPO. During this tour, he promoted to BMCM and assumed the duties as Assistant Maintenance Officer.

 

In September of 2013, Master Chief Roth transferred to USS Arlington (LPD 24) in Norfolk, Virginia as Deck LCPO. During this tour, he completed a Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf deployment and assumed the duties as Command Master Chief. Upon selection as a Command Master Chief, Master Chief Roth transferred from the USS Arlington in May 2017 and reported to the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course. Upon graduation, he reported to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ZERO (HSM 70) “Spartans” in June 2017 and assumed as Command Master Chief.
