CDR Brian S. Peeples
CDR Bryan Peeples was raised in Summerville, South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and was selected for flight training in Pensacola, FL. After completing flight training he joined the “Dragonslayers” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron ELEVEN (HS-11) based in Jacksonville, FL, where he completed deployments aboard the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67) and THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in support of operations SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM. He served as Search and Rescue Officer, Public Affairs Officer, First Lieutenant, Avionics/Armament Division Officer and Quality Assurance Officer. While at HS-11 he participated in the rescues of 5 people during two separate rescues at sea, a Combat Search and Rescue detachment in Pakistan, a Helicopter Visit, Board Search and Seizure (HVBSS) of a suspected Al Qaeda vessel in the Arabian Sea and was selected as the NHA East Coast Pilot of the Year. Following his tour at HS-11, CDR Peeples reported to HS-10 in San Diego as an Instructor Pilot, where he served as the Aircraft Division Officer, Replacement Pilot Schedules Officer, and CNAP NATOPS Evaluator.
After HS-10 CDR Peeples attended the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor course in Fallon, NV and reported to the staff of Carrier Air Wing FOURTEEN (CVW-14). There he served as the Helicopter Operations/CSAR Officer, completing two deployments aboard the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and flying multiple combat missions in southern Iraq. Following this tour he joined Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FOUR (HS-4) as the Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer and completing two more deployments aboard the USS RONALD REAGAN. Following HS-4, CDR Peeples attended the Naval War College in Newport Rhode Island where he graduated with distinction, earning a Master of Arts degree in National Security Studies. He then reported to U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk as the Assistant Anti-Submarine Warfare Requirements Officer.
CDR Peeples’ personal awards include the Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), Humanitarian Service Medal and various other unit and campaign citations.
