NAS North Island

North Island Medical Clinic

The North Island Clinic is the primary source of health care on NAS North Island. The clinic provides the full range of services you would expect from a small community outpatient doctor’s office, and will meet 90 percent of a person’s health care needs, from infancy to old age. The staff arranges referrals for those needing specialty care or services otherwise unavailable. Those who need medical care not available in the clinic will be sent to Balboa Naval Hospital.

The clinic provides care to active duty members, retirees and dependents.

Branch Dental Clinic NAS North Island


The dental clinic is only available for active-duty members. To schedule an appointment, call 545-6397/6398/6400, Monday through Friday, from 6:45 am. to 3:45 p.m.

Dental care for family members is available from civilian providers by enrolling in the Family Member Dental Plan. The dental clinic strongly encourages members to enroll their family members before leaving their current duty station. Orthodontic care is available through civilian orthodontic services through the Family Member Dental Plan.

The mission of the dental clinic is to provide the dental care and administrative support necessary to ensure commands achieve and maintain the highest state of Operational Dental Readiness.

Balboa Naval Hospital, San Diego

The U.S. Naval Hospital San Diego is the primary medical provider for military, retirees, and dependents members.  More information can be found

American Red Cross

The
American Red Cross is a private, nonprofit organization governed and staffed by volunteers and financed through voluntary contributions.

Red Cross services for military members include 24-hour emergency communications and financial assistance, counseling, information and referrals.  Call (800) RED-CROSS for more details.

NMCRS

The
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private, nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance and other relief services to active-duty or retired members of the Navy and Marine Corps, their family members or survivors. NMCRS assistance is available through the American Red Cross when immediate needs occur after hours.

NMCRS assistance is provided through budget counseling, loans, grants and various other services. There are no fees for assistance, and loans are interest-free. Emergency assistance includes emergency travel in time of death or illness in the immediate family, essential car repairs, assistance when pay records or allotment checks are lost, payment of medical bills after
TRICARE, payment of dental bills, food, rent and utilities. Other services include visiting nurse services, spouse tuition assistance program, layettes for E-1 through E-5 new parents and a thrift shop.

NMCRS is located in the Family Service Center building at NAS North Island bldg. 318-W.  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; telephone (619) 545-4477.

Family Support Center

The Family Support Center serves as the advocate for quality-of-life issues . The center aims to assist service members and their families in meeting their needs. Some of the programs and services available include an information and referral service that helps customers connect with the base program or agency best suited to handle their needs. These include the Personal Financial Management Program and financial assistance; spouse employment assistance services and the Job Experience Training Program; Transition Assistance Program for retiring and separating service members and their spouses; and a Family Life Education Program to assist families in coping with everyday challenges.

In addition, the FSC has a complete relocation services center that provides service members and their families with support during permanent change of station moves.  The center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (619) 545-6071.

Child Care

The
Child Development programs are offered to ages 6 weeks to 5 years at Child Development Centers (CDC) throughout San Diego. Caregivers receive extensive training in the development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to ensure an enriching day care experience for young Navy family members. Program elements include age appropriate activities, participation in the USDA food program, and monthly training requirements of staff. For information on childcare, call (619) 545-0259.
