CMDCM(SW/AW) Bret D. Levinton
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Levinton entered the United States Navy in December 1995 under the Delayed Entry Program, and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. He graduated from Data Systems Technician ‘A’ School at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois, and Computer Peripheral ‘C’ School at Center for Surface Combat Systems, in Dam Neck, Virginia.
His sea duty assignments include USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64) in Coronado, California, USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74) in Bremerton, Washington, Joint Task Force Paladin Counter-IED in RC East, Afghanistan, Federal German Ships Fregatte BAYERN (F217) and Fregatte MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN (F218) in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) in Everett, Washington.
His shore duty assignments include President’s Staff, US Naval War College, and as Command Master Chief of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division.
He assumed the duties as Command Master Chief, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO THREE (HSC-23) in June, 2016.
Master Chief Levinton’s qualifications include Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, CVN Tactical Action Officer, Air Defense Weapons Coordinator, Combat Systems Maintenance Manager, and Master Training Specialist. He is a Dean’s List graduate of the US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (178 BROWN) and a graduate of CMC/COB Course (153). He holds a baccalaureate of science degree in Psychology from Excelsior College, and an associate of arts degree in German Language from the Defense Language Institute.
Master Chief Levinton’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (two awards), and numerous other campaign and unit awards. He is married with two daughters, aged five and two.
