Command Senior Enlisted Advisor
Senior Chief Hauptman was born on 25 May 1975 in Port Jefferson, NY. He graduated from Stamford Central School and entered the Navy on 8 August 1994. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, FL he attended Naval Aircrew Candidate and Rescue Swimmer School at NASC Pensacola, FL and Aviation Warfare Systems Operator “A” school in Millington, TN. Upon completion of “A” school he reported to HS-10 for training in the SH-60F/HH-60H Seahawk Helicopter.
In April 1996, Senior Chief Hauptman reported to his first command the “Chargers” of HS-14 stationed in Naval Air Facility Atsugi Japan where he made numerous deployments to the Western Pacific and Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Desert Fox as well as completing a lifesaving rescue while onboard USS Independence CV-62 and USS Kitty Hawk CV-63. While assigned to HS-14 he qualified as a Naval Aircrewman, Tactical Systems Operator, Level III Crewchief, and H-60F/H NATOPS Instructor.
Senior Chief Hauptman then reported to HX-21 Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD, for duty as a Test and Evaluation Aircrewman for the H-60F/H and MH-60S helicopter programs; while at HX-21 he advanced to First Class Petty Officer. In September 2003, he reported once again to HS-14 onboard Naval Air Facility Atsugi Japan completing deployments onboard USS Kitty Hawk CV-62, USS Cushing DD-985, and USNS GySgt. Fred W. Stockham T-AK-3017 in support of both 7th and 5th Fleet Operations to include Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom Philippines, and was unanimously selected as HS-14’s Senior Sailor of the Year for 2006. After a very successful tour with the Chargers he then reported to HS-10 as an H-60F/H Fleet Replacement Aircrew Instructor in February 2007, during this tour he selected to Chief Petty Officer and qualified as Master Training Specialist.
In June of 2010 Senior Chief Hauptman then reported to the “Wild Cards” of HSC-23 as Operations CPO where he completed a deployment as Detachment Three’s LCPO onboard USS Essex LHD 2 and was awarded the 2012 Chief Petty Officer of the year. He then transferred to NASC Swim Site San Diego as the Training Chief Petty Officer where he qualified as MTS Mentor, Rescue Swimmer Instructor, and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In October 2016 Senior Chief Hauptman once again returned to the “Wild Cards” of HSC-23, where he qualified as an MQ-8B Mission Payload Operator and currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Senior Chief Hauptman’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Sikorsky Helicopter Rescue Award, and various unit and campaign awards.
Senior Chief Hauptman is married to Tomoe Hauptman and currently resides in Temecula, CA. They have two beautiful children Rachel (16) and Ashton (13).
