COMMAND MASTER CHIEF
CMDCM (AW/SW) K. T. MORGAN 


Master Chief Morgan entered the United States Navy in 1985, attending recruit training at RTC San Diego, California.  His military education includes 5”/38 Twin Gun Mount Class “C” School, 5”/54 MK 45 MOD’s 0, 1 and 2 Light Weight Gun Class “C” School, MK 75/76mm Gun Mount Class “C” School and Basic Greek Language Course at Defense Language Institute at Monterey, California.  

Master Chief Morgan’s first assignment was Pre-Commissioning Unit for USS MISSOURI (BB 63), which was commissioned in May 1986 and where he completed an Around the World shakedown cruise in 1986, and a Western Pacific/Arabian Gulf deployment in 1987.  He was advanced to GMG2 while assigned to USS MISSOURI.  In October 1988, he was selected for participation in the Personnel Exchange Program (PEP) with the Greek Navy and attended Greek Language School at Defense Language Institute Monterey in 1989.  The PEP program with the Greek Navy was discontinued in late 1989 so he did not get the opportunity to further participate in the program but was allowed to graduate from the language course.  He reported for Instructor Duty in March 1990 at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic (FCTCLANT) where he instructed in both the 5”/38 Gun Mount and 5”/54 MK 45 Gun Mount courses of instruction.  While assigned to FCTCLANT, he earned the designation as Master Training Specialist and was also advanced to GMG1.  In March 1993, he reported for duty onboard USS KIDD (DDG 993) where he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in September 1993.  He completed a Mediterranean and an Eastern Pacific deployment while assigned to USS KIDD.  In October 1996 he reported to Fleet Technical Support Center Atlantic (FTSCLANT) where he was assigned as a Technical Representative for the 5”/54 MK Gun Mount and various small arms weapons systems. 

His next assignment was USS CAPE ST GEORGE (CG 71) reporting in August 1999.  He was advanced to GMCS while serving onboard.  During this tour, he completed a Mediterranean/Arabian Gulf deployment, BALTOPS 2001 and 2002 and part of Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment in 2003.  He then reported to Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity Norfolk (SIMA) in March 2003 where he was assigned as Leading Chief Petty Officer for the 250 personnel assigned to SIMA’s largest Repair Division.  The Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance (MARMC) was established during his tour, with SIMA being one of several major commands that was part of this merger.  He was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer during his tour at SIMA/MARMC.

In April 2006, Master Chief Morgan reported aboard USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) where he was assigned as the Command Master Chief, completing a 6 month deployment with the IWO JIMA Expeditionary Strike Group in 2006 and a 7 month GWOT deployment in 2007-2008.

He reported to Assault Craft Unit TWO in January 2009 and served as the Command Master Chief until October 2011.  

He reported to HM 14 in November 2011 where he is currently serving as the Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Morgan has qualified as both Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist.  He is a graduate of the US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 131) and the Command  Master Chief course (Class 039) at Newport, Rhode Island.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), and numerous campaign and unit awards.  He and his wife reside in Norfolk, Virginia.
