Command Master Chief

A native of Norwalk, Ohio, Master Chief Arnold received his High School diploma and two year Vocational Education Electronics Certificate in June 1975. In October 1975 he entered recruit training at NRTC Great Lakes, IL followed by Electronic Warfare “A”, “C”, and advanced applications schools in Pensacola, FL.

His sea duty assignments include the USS VOGELGESANG (DD 862), USS GLOVER (FF 1098), USS THORN (DD 988), Plank Owner USS COLE (DDG 67), and pre-commissioning unit for USS MESA VERDE (LPD 19). During these sea tours he qualified in all surface warfare watches as well as underway Officer of the Deck.

Previous staff assignments with COMNAVSURFLANT as the Force Electronic Warfare Officer with responsibility for the administrative control, training, maintenance and electronic warfare readiness of over 60 surface ships. COMUSNAVCENT / COMFIFTHFLEET as the Fleet Electronic Warfare Officer, and the Maritime Operations Center Senior Enlisted Leader. He also assumed the collateral duties as the Force and Staff Command Master Chief during 11 months of this tour in direct support of over 30,000 Sailors involved in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and Maritime Security Operations. Commander, Cruiser-Destroyer Group EIGHT, (EISENHOWER Battle Group), and Commander, Cruiser-Destroyer Group TWELVE, (ENTERPRISE Battle Group), where he served as the assistant Electronic Warfare Officer for all EW assets in 19 ships and 2 carrier air wings. A two year overseas assignment, and five deployments in addition to shore duty tours with Afloat Training Group Norfolk, VA., Naval Air Station, Key West, FL, and the Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Center, Cleveland, Ohio, provided further diversity and professional growth.

Master Chief Arnold’s previous assignment was as Command Master Chief, with the “Ragin’ Bulls” of Strike Fighter Squadron THREE SEVEN, a two time Battle “E” and Estocian award winning command.

A graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 100 Gold), and Command Master Chief Course (Class 68), he holds an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts, and is a certified Afloat Training Specialist. He is qualified as an Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist.

His personal awards include; Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Good Conduct Medal (7), Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (2), numerous unit / campaign awards, and Letters of Commendation / Appreciation.
