Your USS Enterprise Command Ombudsmen are the Commanding Officer's representatives to our outstanding Navy families. Whether you are a spouse, child, sibling, parent, or other family member, we are here to answer your questions and refer you to the many experts available for assistance.
We are volunteer command-appointed spouses. Just like many of you, we know the hardships involved with serving as a Navy family. We are the first step to discovering the large network of friendship and assistance that is available to all Navy families. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
For routine questions, please e-mail your Ombudsman.
For emergencies, please e-mail and contact us on our listed command cellular phone. If you are directed to voicemail, please leave a short message and a contact number to call you back.
Ombudsman are volunteers appointed by the commanding officer to serve as an information link between the command leadership and the command families. Ombudsman are trained to disseminate information – official Department of the Navy and command information, command climate issues, local quality of life improvement opportunities, and “good deals” around the community. They also provide resource referrals when needed and are instrumental in resolving family issues before they require extensive command attention.
What does this mean to our command families?
An Ombudsman’s primary job is information and referral. We are knowledgeable about many resources that are available to our command families. Whether you are a spouse looking for volunteer opportunities or if an unexpected expense comes up, we have the resources to help you. We are also trained to deal with Crisis Management. If a serious situation arises, your ombudsman is here to assist you. Family members may contact an Ombudsman for information, guidance, and referrals, or just to discuss their concerns with a caring person.
An Ombudsman is bound by a Code of Ethics. We will maintain confidentiality, support the command’s mission, work within the chain of command as directed, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
An Ombudsman will not share your sensitive information with anyone that is not within the Commanding Officer’s designated network and all information is for official use only. However, Ombudsman are also Mandated Reporters. The Navy requires Ombudsman to report the following issues: all suspected or known child abuse/neglect, alleged domestic abuse, suspected or potential homicides, violence or life-endangering situations, all suspected or potential suicide risks.
We will be emailing out information from our resources and information the command wants us to distribute. Whether you are residing locally in Hampton Roads or not, we will be putting out information relevant for all "Big E" families.
We will NOT be releasing information regarding deployment dates, port of calls, communications (ex: River City), or anything that would violate OPSEC and compromise our service members' safety.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of us on our individual email accounts! We look forward to assisting the families and helping out the command as needed!
