Master Chief Petty Officer Daniels was born in Findlay, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan 10, 1984 and graduated from NTC Great Lakes in January of that year. After completion of “Apprenticeship Training” and H3 FRAMP, he reported to HS-9 as a Plane Captain from Jun 84 to Sep 85. Following that tour, he reported to AIMD Jacksonville were he served there from Sep 85 to May 86, and was promoted to Petty Officer Third Class.
He was assigned to VA-81 NAS Cecil Field Fl, from May 86 to Jan 90, were he completed a deployment to the Mediterranean. He was awarded his first Navy Achievement Medal, and promoted to Petty Officer Second Class. His next assignment was to the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Shop of AIMD Cecil where he worked as a production supervisor. While at AIMD Cecil, he was awarded his second Navy Achievement Medal, earned his EAWS and was promoted to Petty Officer First Class.
After that tour, he was assigned to the Blue Angels in Pensacola, FL from Jan 93 to Nov 96, where he was awarded his first Navy Commendation Medal. After the Blue Angels, he was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE THREE SIX (VFA-136) from Nov 96 to Nov 99 where he completed two deployments was awarded his third, fourth and fifth Navy Achievement Medals and a second Navy Commendation Medal. While with the Nighthawks, he was selected as the Sailor of the Year for 1998.
In September 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer while assigned to VFA-122, and was awarded his third Navy Commendation Medal. From 2001 to 2003, Master Chief Daniels was assigned to CVW-14 and completed a deployment to the Persian Gulf and North Arabian Sea in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) and ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF). While at CVW-14, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and was awarded his fourth Navy Commendation Medal. In September 2003 he reported to HC-8, which transitioned to HSC-28. While there he was promoted to Master Chief (AZCM).
In April 2006 Master Chief Daniels reported onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), deployed in support of OEF and OIF. In December of 2007 he was selected for the Command Master Chief (CMC) program. He graduated from Senior Enlisted Academy Class 138 and the Command Master Chief Course. While attached to IKE, he was awarded his fifth Navy Commendation Medal. He next reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR THREE (VFA-143) as the CMC, and deployed onboard USS Eisenhower from Feb-Jul 2009 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his tour at VFA-143.
Master Chief Ken Daniels is currently serving in Carrier Air Wing SEVEN (CVW-7) as the Command Master Chief for over 1600 Sailors.
