Personnel Support Activity Detachment, Dam Neck, VA, November 1994 until August 1998. Fighter Squadron 41 at Naval Air Station Oceana, VA. August 1998 until November 2001, while attached he qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warrior. Water Front Support Unit, Norfolk, VA from November 2001 until September 2004. Regional Support Organization September 2004 until January 2006. USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) from January 2006 until December 2008 While onboard he qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warrior. Afloat Training Group (ATG) Norfolk, VA from December 2008 until November 2012. While assigned to ATG he qualified as an Afloat and Master Training Specialist. Master Chief Sanders reported on board USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) from December 2012 until October 2014.
Master Chief Sanders reported to VAW 125 as the Command Master Chief in November 2014. In March 2015 he deployed with VAW 125 in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT where the Tigertails were awarded the Battle “E”, Safety “S”, Blue “M”, Retention Excellence Award, and flew the EAWS pennant.

Master Chief Sanders was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 2002, Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2009 and Master Chief Petty Officer in 2013. He was selected to be a Command Master Chief in February 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Leo University and a Masters of Art Degree from Norfolk State University in Urban Education with emphasis in Community Counseling. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 169 (Purple) and CMC/COB course class 137. He is a graduate of the MCPON’s ELS 16-2. Master Chief Sanders is also an accomplished author of three publications.
His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
