Master Chief Petty Officer Porter entered Naval Service from Lewisville, Texas in 1992. He attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of Basic Training, he attended Operations Specialist “A” School at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Master Chief Porter’s sea duty assignments include: USS LONG BEACH (CGN 9), Commander Carrier Group Six attached to USS AMERICA (CV 66), USS O’BANNON (DD 987), USS TAYLOR (FFG 50), USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68), and Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN.
Master Chief Porter’s shore assignments are Operations Specialist “A” School Instructor where he received his Master Training Specialist designation and Afloat Training Group, Mayport where he earned his Afloat Training Specialist designation.
In February 2010, Master Chief Porter was selected for the Command Master Chief Program and after graduating from the CMC/COB course he served as CMC for USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68) and Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN, prior to reporting to CPRW-11.
Master Chief Porter is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy NRC Class 28 Blue and the CMC/COB Command Leadership Course. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of North Florida in 2008.
His personal decorations include Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Meritorious Service Medal (Three Awards), Navy Commendation Medal (Two Awards), Navy Achievement Medal (Three Awards), and various other unit and campaign awards.
