Command Master Chief

CMDCM(AW/SW/NAC) John Bowler, a native of Richmond, Va. is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School Class of 1991.  He enlisted in the Navy in July 1993 and completed Recruit Training in Orlando, Fl. CMDCM Bowler then reported to and completed Naval Aircrew Candidate School and Aviation Rescue Swimmer School in Pensacola, Fl.
 
CMDCM Bowler's source rating was an Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator.  His career duty assignments include: HS-3 Rescue Swimmer and Sensor Operator; HS-10 Instructor/Master Training Specialist; HS-8 Aircrew Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO); USS George Washington (CVN 73) Undersea Warfare Module LCPO and Combat Direction Center LCPO; Search and Rescue Swimmer School Jacksonville Senior Instructor/Senior Enlisted Leader; Command Senior Chief, Transient Personnel Unit, Naval Base Kitsap, Washington;  Command Senior Chief, MCM Crew Conflict; Command Master Chief, Transient Personnel Unit/Pre-Trial Confinement Facility, Jacksonville; Command Master Chief VP-16; and is currently the Command Master Chief for Commander Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic.
 
CMDCM Bowler holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Excelsior College and a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 136) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 70).  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards),  Air Medal (three S/F awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), and various unit and campaign awards.  He is qualified as a Naval Aircrewman, Master Training Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
