CDR Dustin Hendrix hails from Fontanet, Indiana and is a graduate of Wabash College. He began his naval career in November 1997 as a Nuclear Field Machinist Mate. While a student in the Nuclear Power Pipeline, he was picked up for Officer Candidate School and commissioned on 2 July 1999.
After commissioning, he entered the Naval Flight Officer pipeline and received his Wings of Gold in August 2000. Following flight school, he reported to VP—30, in Jacksonville, FL where he complete initial training in the P-3 aircraft. In March of 2001, he was assigned to the “Pelicans” of Patrol Squadron 45. At VP—45, CDR Hendrix deployed to Keflavik, Iceland and Sigonella, Sicily while serving as the Assistant Tactics and NFO Training Officer..
Following his tour with the Pelicans, CDR Hendrix was assigned to Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing ELEVEN where he qualified as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor and served as the Assistant Training Officer, NARIIP/Readiness Officer, and WTU instructor. Additionally, he earned an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA via distance learning.
After detaching from CPRW—11, Dustin reported as Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer aboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV—63) home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. While assigned there, he qualified as Arresting Gear Officer, Catapult Officer, Catapult Instructor, and Conning Alongside Officer. CDR Hendrix has the distinction of shooting the last aircraft from the flight deck of the mighty "Battle Cat".
Upon finishing his disassociated sea tour, CDR Hendrix was assigned to Patrol Squadron 30 as an instructor TACCO/WTI. While a member of the Pro's Nest, Dustin served as the Command Services Officer, Student Control Officer and Training Director.
Following his FRS instructor tour, he was assigned to the “Tridents” of Patrol Squadron 26 as a department head where he served as the tactics, training and operations officer. During his tour, VP-26 was received multiple awards to include the Battle “E” and the Isbell trophy for ASW excellence.
After completing his DH tour, CDR Hendrix was assigned to the White House Military Office as the support staff program manager. While on staff at the White House, he was awarded the Presidential Service Badge and complete JPME Phase 2 course at Joint Forces Staff College. CDR Hendrix was designated as a Joint Qualified Officer in September 2015.
CDR Hendrix reported to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville in September 2015 as the Executive Officer.
CDR Hendrix is authorized to wear Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2) and various other service and unit awards.
