CMDCM RUSSELL SITES,
Master Chief Sites, a native of Lewiston, Maine, enlisted in the Navy in November 1989. After Basic Training and Seaman Apprenticeship in Great Lakes, Illinois, he completed Aviation Structural Mechanic (AMS) “A” School in Millington, TN and was assigned to the “BLACKHAWKS” of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron FIFTEEN (HM-15) at NAS Alameda, California. Subsequent Sea Duty tours include the World Famous “RED RIPPERS” of Fighter Squadron ELEVEN (VF-11), the “FIGHTING BLACKLIONS” of Fighter Squadron TWO THIRTEEN (VF and VFA-213), Carrier Air Wing ONE (CVW-1) Staff as the “BIG DOG”, and his current assignment as the Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE THREE ONE (VFA-131), the “WILDCATS”.
Master Chief Sites’ sea tours have taken him on seven deployments aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74), USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73), USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67), USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71), and USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65).
His Shore Duty assignments include two tours at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATTU) in Norfolk, VA, where he qualified as a Master Training Specialist and at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Staff as the Staff Senior Enlisted Leader in Patuxent River, MD.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various Unit Commendations. He is also qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Small Craft Commander.
