Master Chief Armijo, a native of Reserve, New Mexico, enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1992. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to Naval Training Center, Meridian, Mississippi where he completed AZ “A” school.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Agana Guam. During this tour he was advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.
In November 1994 he reported to his first squadron, Tactical Electronics Squadron ONE THREE SIX (VAQ 136), NAF Atsugi, where he earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and was advanced to Second Class Petty Officer
After detaching from VAQ 136 he reported to Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO ONE (VF 101), NAS Oceana, where he was advanced to First Class Petty Officer.
In February 2000, he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO FIVE (VFA 105), NAS Oceana, with deployments to the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf in support of Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM. While attached to the Gunslingers he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
In June 2003 he transferred to AIMD, Corpus Christi, TX serving as the Admin LCPO and MMCPO. He then transferred to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron FIVE (HSC 25), Andersen Air Force Base Guam. While there he was deployed to the only Navy air ambulance squadron, 2515 Naval Air Ambulance Detachment supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer while here. In May 2009 he reported to Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic Det. Norfolk as the Production Control and Admin LCPO.
In May 2013 he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron TWO SEVEN (VFA 27), NAF Atsugi. He deployed onboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and was transferred to Strike Fighter Squadron 195 (VFA 195) where he served as the Maintenance Master Chief.
He holds Associates in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Additionally, Master Chief Armijo is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 187 Brown) and CMC/COB Course (Class 144).
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal, navy and marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
