Master Chief Smogoleski is currently serving as Commander, Carrier Strike Group TWO Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) and Assistant Flag Communications Officer. Information System Technology Master Chief Nancy Smogoleski ws born in Ludington, MI on 12 July 1966. She graduated from Ludington High School in 1985 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 4 February 1987. Upon graduating recruit training in Orlando, Florida she attended RM "A" School in San Diego, California. Upon completion of RM "A" School, she was advanced to Third Class Petty Officer under the Meritorious Advancement Program.
In July of 1987, Master Chief Smogoleski reported to her first duty station at Navy Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Western Pacific (NCTAMS WESTPAC), Guam. where she served as Service Center Supervisor. Following duty at NCTAMS WESTPAC, she reported to her next duty station at Commander U.S. Facilities (COMUSFAC), Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines where she was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer.
From 1992 to 1995, she served at Composite Squadron (COMPSRON) THREE, Naval Communications Station Keflavik, Iceland (NCS KEF TSC DET) and Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Michigan. At NRD Michigan, she was selected as Recruiter, Sailor of the Year and was advanced to First Class Petty Officer via the Command Advancement Program (CAP). Following her assignment to NRD, Michigan, ITCM Smogoleski commissioned the USS PORTER (DDG78).
In 2001, she transferred to AFPLSYSINSTAFF where she shortly was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and returning to sea aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN71) where she promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In 2007, ITCM Smogoleski graduated from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 135, Gold) in Newport, Rhode Island. Upon graduation she transferred to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois as Recruit Division Commander and promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer.
Her decorations include several Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals as well as personal and unit campaign awards.
