CAPTAIN RICHARD J. DAVIS, U.S.NAVY
AIRBORNE MINE COUNTERMEASURES WEAPONS SYSTEMS TRAINING SCHOOL
Captain Richard (Dick) Davis attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and received his commission upon graduation in 1990 along with his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation and USCG Third Mate License. He holds a Master Of Science degree in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the National Defense University's Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) and a Master Of Science degree in International Relations from Troy University.
After being designated a Naval Aviator in October 1993, Captain Davis completed MH-53E fleet replacement pilot training with the "Sea Dragons" of HELMINERON TWELVE (HM-12) and the Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) Weapon Systems Training School (AWSTS) in Norfolk, Virginia. His initial sea duty assignment was with HELMINERON FIFTEEN (HM-15) in Alameda, California. While with the "Blackhawks" of HM-15, he deployed in support of operations in the Sea of Japan and served in the positions of Flight Officer, Aircraft Line Division Officer, and Quality Assurance Officer.
In 1999, Captain Davis completed flight training in the SH-60/HH-60H with the "Warhawks" of HELANTISUBRON TEN (HS-10) and reported to the "Pioneers" of AIRTEVRON ONE (VX-1) in Patuxent River, Maryland as the AMCM Operational Test Director. In 2001, Captain Davis returned to HM-15 and served as Det TWO OIC from February to September 2003 while deployed to the 5th Fleet AOR in support of Navy and coalition forces during Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. He then served as HM-15's aircraft Maintenance Officer prior to being assigned to COMHELTACWINGLANT as Operations Officer He reported as the Executive Officer to the "Black Stallions" of HELSUPPRON FOUR (HC-4) based at NAS Sigonella, Sicily in September 2005 and subsequently served as the Executive Officer until February 2007. Captain Davis commanded the "Fleet Angels" of HELSEACOMBATRON TWO (HSC-2) and completed his tour in July 2008.
From August 2009 to February 2010, Captain Davis deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as the Deputy Director for the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) Forward Support Element. He was later assigned to the USJFCOM J86 Joint Capabilities Transition division as Plans and Operations Officer until he transferred to USTRANSCOM, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) upon USJFCOM's 2011 disestablishment. Captain Davis was then assigned to U. S. Fleet Forces Command and served as N89 Special Access Programs Capabilities Division Head until February 2014.
Captain Davis is a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO). His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (6/2 with Combat "V"), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various unit and service awards.
