• In August 2007, the Deputy's Advisory Working Group briefed the Deputy Secretary of Defense on pursuing a commercial lease agreement for Ultra Hhigh Frequency satellite communications services.

• In January 2008, PMW 146 was directed to procure a sole source firm-fixed-price contract to Intelsat General Corp. to lease UHF services on Skynet 5 in FY09

• In January 2009, the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command executed a firm-fixed-price contract to Intelsat General Corporation to lease (2) 25 kHz UHF channels

• Added one additional 25 kHz channel in August 2009; currently leasing (3) 25 kHz UHF channels
