MCA also provides regionally aligned Maritime Civil Affairs Teams (MCATs) that conduct civil reconnaissance and provide assessment of infrastructure and capability requirements in support of the commander's objectives in an area of focus. Examples include: port operations and security, medical care capability, and fishery resources and management.
