 Fort Stewart 

 

Fort Stewart is named in honor of Brigadier General Daniel Stewart. Stewart joined the militia in 1776 and served during the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are the home of the 3rd Infantry Division.

Flying in Airport:

  • Savannah International.

Driving Directions from Savannah International Airport

  • Transportation is available from the Savannah International Airport. The Military Reception Center in the airport includes a telephone that automatically connects you to the Marine Reception Center.

Driving Directions from I-95 South (from South Carolina)

  • Get off at Exit 87 (coastal Highway/GA Hwy 17).
  • Turn left on GA Hwy 17 South. Travel 4.5 miles to GA Hwy 196 West.
  • Veer to the right on GA Hwy 196 West. Travel 8.9 miles to US Hwy 84 West, turn right at the T-junction.
  • Travel 4.3 miles to General Stewart Way (just past the Shoney’s on the right).
  • Turn right at General Stewart Way and follow directions to the Fort Stewart main gate.

Driving Directions from I-95 North (from Florida)

  • Get off at Exit 76 (Midway & Sunbury Rd.)
  • Turn left on US Hwy 84 West. Travel approx. 15 miles to General Stewart Way (just past the Shoney’s on the right.)
  • Turn right at General Stewart Way and follow directions to the Fort Stewart main gate.

Driving Directions from I-16 East (From Macon)

  • Go East to I-95 South. Get on I-95 South.
  • Follow instructions for (From South Carolina).
