LCDR Kenneth W. Lassek
Lieutenant Commander Lassek, a native of Minnesota, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland, Asian Division while overseas. LCDR Lassek completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in October of 1998.
In March of 1999 LCDR Lassek reported to Naval Security Group Activity, Fort Meade, MD, where he provided cryptologic support as a Direct Support Element Officer to Combatant Commanders. He was then assigned as Maritime Cryptologic Database Facility division officer that provided fleet support during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
LCDR Lassek was assigned to Naval Information Warfare Activity (NIWA), Fort Meade, MD in August of 2002 supporting both NIWA and NSAs SIGINT Support to Information Operations as Deputy Branch Chief. He managed NSAs SSIO Branch and liaised with DIA and multi-agency working groups. He also provided Information Operation support to NIWA and NSA during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
In June 2004 LCDR Lassek reported to Commander Submarine Group 8 in Naples, Italy. After four months as Fleet Intelligence Watch Officer he moved to CNE-C6Fs Effects Based Operations providing theater operational assessments to the NAVEUR Commander. He deployed on both the USS EMORY S. LAND and USS KAUFMANN visiting seven African countries supporting 6th Fleet operations and assisted in the design of the African Partnership Station concept.
In July of 2007 LCDR Lassek reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) San Diego as an Information Operations (IO) planner. He provided IO support to 3rd Fleet staff for a Homeland Defense mission and the USS RONALD REAGAN STRIKE GROUP before volunteering for a 403 day Individual Augmentation (IA) to Iraq. LCDR Lassek was an IO Planner/ IO Assessments Officer for Multi-National Corps Iraq Information Operations in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. After returning home, he became the Cyber Dept Head managing NIOCs Computer Network Defense mission supporting the Chief of Naval Operations directed Summer Surge, assessing network security of 58 PACFLT units and 20 units and shore stations in support of TERMINAL FURY 2010.
LCDR Lassek reported to Fleet Cyber Command/TENTH Fleet in June of 2010. As a staff officer he was Deputy Future Operations, Deputy MOC Assessments, and Battle Watch Captain. During his tour he supported OPERATIONS ODYSSEY DAWN, TOMADACHI, UNIFIED PROTECTOR and led Future Operations efforts in developing 40 Navy Cyber Mission Force teams supporting USCYBERCOM and the U.S. Navy.
LCDR Lassek's decoratioins include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various other unit and personal awards.
