Greeting from Misawa, Japan! I just wanted to take the opportunity to personally congratulate you on your orders to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC), Misawa. Whether this is your first tour, first tour overseas, or you are an "Old Salt", I know you are probably both excited and a bit nervous about your upcoming PCS move to Japan, but let me assure you, there are a lot of people, primarily your Sponsor, who are available to answer your questions, assist you with travel information, and generally guide you through the process - it's not nearly as difficult as it may seem from where you are now. We look forward to meeting you in person, getting you smoothly settled into your new home, and getting you fully integrated into the NIOC team, whether your duties have you working in the Misawa Security Operations Center, the Fleet Operations Department, or in the other Departments that execute the NIOC Mission. There are just too many great things to say about duty in Japan to cover here, but rest assured, you and your family, if accompanied, will have a personally and professionally rewarding experience here while experiencing the wonderful cultural experience in Northern Japan. Again, Congratulations, and welcome aboard.

 Calling Instructions

Calling Commercial from the States:

  • For numbers beginning with 616: dial 011-81-3117-63-XXXX
  • For numbers beginning with 226: dial 011-81-3117-64-XXXX
  • To place a call through the Misawa Base Operator, dial 011-81-176-53-5181

Calling Commercial within Japan:

  • For 222-XXXX numbers, dial 63-XXXX
  • For 226-XXXX numbers, dial 64-XXXX
  • If you are out of the local Misawa area, dial the 0176 area code first (0176-63-XXXX or 0176-64-XXXX)

Calling DSN:

  • From within PACAF and PACOM, dial 616-XXXX for residential and 226-XXXX for duty phone numbers
