Senior Enlisted Advisor
Information Systems Technician Senior Chief Matthew Mannon of Woodstock, Georgia enlisted in the Naval Service on Delayed Entry Program in 1991. He reported to RTC/NTC San Diego in April 1991, where he completed both Recruit Training and Radioman “A” school.
Upon Completion of “A” school Senior Chief Mannon reported to USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), home ported in Yokosuka Japan, where he advanced through to Petty Officer Third Class while assigned to Technical Control Division. In Dec 1994, Senior Chief Mannon reported to Commander Submarine Group Seven/Commander Task Force SEVEN FOUR where he served as a Watch Supervisor, was assigned to Augmented Security Force, and finished his tour as Communications Watch Officer upon his advancement to Petty Officer Second Class. He next reported aboard the USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG-56) in January of 1998, where he worked as a Watch Supervisor, Work Center Supervisor, served through two deployments to the Arabian Gulf, and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Qualification. During this tour all personnel in the Radioman rate were re-designated Information Systems Technicians (IT) and merged with the Data Processing Technician (DP) rate.
His next assignment was at Military Sealift Command Far East, in Yokohama Japan, where he served as Communications Department Leading Petty Officer and Command Career Counselor from February 2001 through March 2004, and advanced to Petty Officer First Class. He then reported to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Five, Agana, Guam, in May 2004 where he served as Communications Division Leading Petty Officer and was subsequently selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer. Additionally, he earned his Expeditionary Warfare Specialist Qualification during this tour.
Senior Chief Mannon reported to his first CONUS tour since enlisting, NCTAMS PAC DET Puget Sound in January of 2008 where he is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader and Operations Department LCPO.
