CWO2 Ramsey enlisted in the United States Navy through the Delayed Entry Program, January 1988 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He reported to Recruit Training Center (RTC) San Diego for basic training in January 1989 where he was meritoriously advanced to Seaman Apprentice. From 1989 to 1990, Seaman Apprentice Ramsey reported to Naval Communications Station (NAVCOMMSTA) NEA Marki, Greece. He was promoted to Radioman (RM) Third Class and served as a Technical Control Radioman until the command decommissioned in 1990. From 1990 to 1993 RM3 Ramsey served aboard the USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41). While assigned he performed the duties as the Facility Control Supervisor(FACCON) in support of the “Cold War” and operations DESERT STORM and DESERT SHIELD. From 1993 to 1996, RM3 Ramsey reported to his next assignment, Naval Computer Telecommunications Area Master Station Mediterranean (NACTAMS MED) in Naples, Italy. There RM3 was promoted to RM2, in performance of his duties as the Senior Watch Supervisor. 

From 1996 to 1999, RM2 Ramsey served as the antenna repair supervisor at the Naval Intermediate Maintenance Facility (NAVIMFAC) located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. From 1999 to 2004, RM2 Ramsey served aboard USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) and was advanced to Information Systems Technician (IT) First Class during his tenure. While onboard IT1 Ramsey served at the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific (JIPAC) where he earned his anchors and became a member of the Chief’s mess. His duties included the assignment as the Pacific Region Panning and Requirements Division Officer while simultaneously working towards and graduating with honors from Wayland Baptist University with a degree in Occupational Education and specializing in Information Systems.

From 2007 to 2009 ITC Ramsey served aboard the USS TARAWA (LHA 1). During his tenure, he was assigned as the Combat Systems Communication Radio Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and Electronic Keying Material System Manager on TARAWA’s final deployment to the Third, Seventh, and Fifth fleets. In 2009, USS TARAWA decommissioned and Chief Ramsey reported aboard USS SAMPSON (DDG 102). He was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer and served as the Operations Department Leading Petty Officer on her maiden deployment to the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Omen. In March 2010, Senior Chief Ramsey reported to OPNAV staff and served as the Chief of Naval Operations IT Rating Advisor.  

April 2011 Senior Chief Petty Officer Ramsey was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer Two and now serves as the Assistant Officer in Charge (AOIC) of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Far East Detachment Diego Garcia.

CWO2 Ramey’s personnel decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), and various service campaign and unit awards.
