ANTHONY T. SAXON

 

 

Lieutenant Commander Anthony T. Saxon assumed command of Naval Computer Telecommunications Strategic Communications Unit, Oklahoma on July 17, 2013.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Lieutenant Commander Saxon is a 1999 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and a graduate from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master’s degree in Space Systems Operations.

Lieutenant Commander Saxon began his career as Surface Warfare Officer.  He served onboard USS WHIDBEY ISLAND as the Communications Officer/Electronic Key Management System Manage, USS JOHN F KENNEDY as the Second Division Officer, and Regional Support Group Mayport as Shipboard Availability Coordinator. He laterally transferred to the Informational Professional Community in July 2004.

As Information Professional Officer he served as Action Officer and Watch Officer at Joint Task Force – Global Network Operations where he was responsible for the operation and defense of the DoD Global Information Grid.  He reported to Naval Postgraduate School and upon completion of his course of study he volunteered for a Global War on Terrorism Support Assignment to Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to North Atlantic Treaty Organization Training Mission in Afghanistan as Communications Current Operations Officer and was selected as Commanding General’s Communications Officer.  He reported to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center as the Communications/Automated Data Processing Department Head.  He then served as the Electronics Material Officer onboard the USS BATAAN. 

Lieutenant Commander Saxon awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), and Navy Achievement Medal.
