MEET SLE COMMUNITY LEADER: SA MARK D. RIDLEY

Welcome to your Security and Law Enforcement Community! The role of the Navy Civilian SLE Community is to help civilians receive and maintain professional development.

Under my leadership, I want to foster a sense of community among security and law enforcement civilians and to build the Navy Civilian Security and Law Enforcement (SLE) Community. My foremost objective is to drive meaningful dialogue and collaboration between various regions and agencies and to develop coordinated recommendations for current challenges/issues.

Please use our site to develop your career and give us feedback as to how this helps you and where we need to improve.

ABOUT CAREER ROAD MAPS:

Many Navy SLE subject matter experts in the field have joined together over a period of a few years to document what it takes to succeed in SLE. These experts worked with your SLE Community Manager, Susan Conklin. Your SLE Community Leaders highly encouraged the development of these Career Road Maps and wish you use the knowledge and wisdom contained in them.

Career Road Maps are meant to be a guide in planning your SLE career. Each roadmap consists of a menu of possibilities at each level from developmental levels like Entry through Journeyman and up to Expert. You are not expected to accomplish everything on the Career Road Map. The suggestions on these road maps may allow you to follow a specialty. Or if you want to, try something new. Additionally, the Road Map provides your supervisor information with which to develop your Independent Development Plan (IDP).

WHAT TO DO NEXT:

Career Road Maps do not guarantee you a promotion but provide you a way to progress in your career. Preceding the road map you will find related career fields that complement your competencies and skill sets. Those lend to changing from one type of job to another.
