Employees moving into executive leadership positions focus on developing leadership skills through action learning teams, project identification and project planning. This twelve-month program consists of four one-week intensive residential sessions.
Target Audience:
GS 13, 14, 15, or equivalent
Program Duration:
12 months
Tuition: $6,675 (tuition does not include travel, meals, or lodging)
Eligibility: Minimum of 2 years of Federal service and little or no supervisory experience
Learning Activities:
- Business book review
- Developmental assignments (60 calendar days)
- Shadow one Senior Executive Service (SES) member (3 days)
- Interview five SES personnel (two career executives, one political or non-career executive, one in the
private sector, at least one female)
Developmental Activities:
- Devise innovative solutions to organizational problems
- Create a personal and organizational vision of leadership and guide others to accept the vision
- Mentor and motivate others
- Understand continuous learning as the cornerstone of leadership growth and success and its role in developing
strategic partnerships

The nomination package must be endorsed through the chain-of-command. Upon chain-of-command approval, Command
Training Representatives will forward endorsed nomination packages to the USDA Graduate School
