Competency Map

The DON HR Intern Program is designed to ensure a systematic approach to building core competencies and developing the skill sets required to fulfill HR’s emerging roles as strategic partners, change agents, consultants and multi-faceted technical experts.

The two-year program is designed to serve as a key source of intake of high potential HR Professionals into the DON HR Community. Prospective applicants should have completed a four-year undergraduate education with an excellent academic standing, gained varied professional experiences and possess a clear interest in and a commitment to a career in human resources. Developmental opportunities include formal classroom training coupled with rotational work assignments at various Navy or Marine Corps regional service centers and command human resources offices across the DON.

Questions about this program may be addressed to DON HR Intern Operations Center at hrscse_donhr_career@navy.mil or to the DON HR Intern Program Manager at DonCivDev@navy.mil.

This year the Department of the Navy welcomed 34 interns to participate in the Human Resources Intern Program. These individuals will be supporting the Department of the Navy throughout the United States.

Orientation week was held 22 August to 26 August 2010. The purpose of orientation week is to give them a sense of our mission and military traditions, provide them with the vision for the HR Community, and introduce them to our Senior Executives. The presenters' briefs from orientation week can be found here.
