Course Description
The Transition Support-Group (TS-G) Course is designed to help Navy flag officers and SES ensure a smooth transition to a new command or senior staff position resulting in improved organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Participants learn strategies and techniques that can help accelerate the transition process and avoid common “derailers.” The components of a comprehensive transition plan are provided as a framework for use by participants as they develop their own plans.
Intended Course Audience
- SES accepting their first reassignment opportunity
- SES who have been in a position for an extensive period of time & have accepted a reassignment opportunity, where they would benefit from a refresher in best practices on how to execute a successful transition
- Ideally participants will register for the program within the first 60 days to have the greatest impact on their transition to the new role
Course Location and Duration
The Transition Support – Group Course is held at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and lasts 3 ½ business days. The course accommodates eight participants. Five seats are prioritized for Navy flag officers and three seats are prioritized for SES. Based on demand, the Executive Management Program Office will prioritize seats for SES participants based on transition timing.

Executive Coaching
Executive Coaching engagements are offered to SES transitioning due to a reassignment opportunity to give them structured support from an executive coach who has expertise in executive transitions. For more information or to engage an executive coach, contact navy.ses@navy.mil.
