Civilian employees of the Department of the Navy have opportunities to be deployed for combat support and various humanitarian efforts as part of the Department of Defense Civilian Expeditionary Workforce (CEW). The CEW gives civilians a unique opportunity to serve our country and assist others as they help shape free and secure regions of prosperity around the world. As a member of the CEW, you can have a lasting impact and a valuable contribution to world peace.
The CEW crosses Department of Defense service boundaries, so Department of the Navy civilian employees join Army, Air Force, and fourth estate counterparts and colleagues in fulfilling a variety of missions.
CEW temporary duty assignments include those associated with combat operations support, emergency operations, and other military contingencies, as well as humanitarian missions, disaster relief, drug interdiction, and civil actions associated with the restoration of order and stability. Current assignments include direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Unified Response, with deployment to Iraq, Afghanistan, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Haiti.
As a member of the CEW, you not only will enhance your professional development with the international experience you gain, but you also will have the personal satisfaction of having made a difference.
