LCDR Forero was born in Colombia, and raised in Flushing New York.  He graduated from Flushing High School in 1988, and enlisted in the Navy in February 1991.

Upon completing basic training in Great Lakes, LCDR Forero attended Storekeeper “A” school in Meridian Mississippi.  He then reported to the USS America (CV-66) in July 1991.  In May 1995, he transferred to Commander Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Group Two in Little Creek Virginia.  During his tour with EOD, LCDR Forero attended airborne school in Fort Benning Georgia.  His subsequent tours were overseas in: Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Greece from Jan 98 to Jan 00, NATO Satellite Ground Terminal F-15 in Keflavik, Iceland from Feb 00 to Dec 02 and NATO Regional Headquarters SOUTHLANT Lisbon, Portugal from Dec 02 to Feb 04.  While stationed in Iceland, LCDR Forero earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland University College.  LCDR Forero was accepted and attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola FL, where he was commissioned as an Ensign in July 2004.  After completing Navy Supply School, LCDR Forero transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133 in Gulfport Mississippi, where he served as the Assistant Supply Officer.  With the Seabees, he deployed to Guam in 05-06 and to Kuwait in 07.  In Dec 2007, he served as an Operational Officer at Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)-Europe and Africa in Kaiserslautern Germany, where he deployed as an IA to Iraq in 2008.  He then served as the Supply Officer on the USS NEW YORK (LPD-21) from Nov 10 to Aug 13.  From Nov 13 to Nov 14, LCDR Forero was a student at the Naval War College where he earned a Master’s in Foreign Affairs.  LCDR Forero is currently serving as the Executive Officer at CSL Comalapa in El Salvador. 

Lieutenant Commander Forero is qualified as a Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Parachute jumper.  His decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (2 awards), Battle “E”, and other unit and service awards.

Lieutenant Commander Forero is married to the former Maria Alexandra Gomez of Queens, NY.
