Commanding Officer's Suicide Prevention Program Handbook Now Available NEW!

 Navy Suicide Prevention has developed the Commanding Officer's Suicide Prevention Program Handbook to guide COs and suicide prevention coordinators through the essential elements of developing and maintaining a robust deckplate Suicide Prevention Program. It contains useful and up-to-date information, policy guidance and educational tools to build a command climate supportive of psychological and emotional well-being--from prevention, to intervention and response.  "1 Small ACT" Photo Gallery

Submissions for the "1 Small ACT" Photo Gallery will be accepted through August 31, 2016, highlighting individuals across the Navy community as they share their ideas for ways to support their shipmates. Participants can print and personalize "1 Small ACT" signs and send photos of themselves holding their signs to suicideprevention@navy.mil for posting in our Facebook page. Did You Know?

Firearms continue to be the most commonly chosen method for suicides among service members and civilians. Reducing access to lethal means has been proven to save lives. These voluntary measures are intended to help Sailors avoid taking irreversible action, and provide the opportunity for intervention and care. To learn more about Navy's guidance for commanders and health professionals on reducing access to lethal means through voluntary storage of privately owned firearms, click here or reference NAVADMIN 263/14
