NAVCONBRIG Miramar (aka Joint Regional Correctional Facility Southwest) serves as the region's confinement and correctional facility for both pre-trial and post-trial prisoners and is available for use by commands of all four of the Armed Services and the Coast Guard.

Visitor parking is located in the east parking lot. Weekend and holiday visitors of prisoners may park in front of the brig.
Regular visiting hours are 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Visits outside these hours must be made by special request and are approved only in very unusual circumstances. Visitors must arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in. A picture ID is required. Improperly attired persons will be refused entry. No cameras are permitted. Visitors must be on the Mail and Visiting List and approved in advance of the visit.
NAVCONBRIG Miramar is located on board Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in northern San Diego. Enter through the main gate from Interstate 15 on Miramar Way. You will need your driver's license, registration and proof of insurance to pass through the gate. The brig is located approximately 2.5 miles from the East Gate entrance.
Do not bring any items to exchange or give to the person you are visiting without having prior written approval to do so.
Plan your visits. Do not surprise the person being visited. It may be upsetting to them.
Media representatives may visit the brig upon special request, consistent with preserving prisoners' right to privacy while maintaining order and security. Private housing and other secure areas will not be available except by special request. All equipment is subject to routine inspection by brig officials for contraband and for security reviews. Photographs or video which identify prisoners are not permitted, with the exception of internal Navy products. For more information, contact the Brig Public Affairs Officer at: 858-577-7071.
Personal interviews and telephonic communications between prisoners (pre-trial or post-trial) and media representatives are not authorized, unless a determination is made that such interview serves a legitimate public interest, or is in the best interest of the military, per Department of the Defense (DoD) and Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) policy.
