BILLET LISTS
The first qualified officer "in their detailing window" who requests a job and is committed to serving in that billet will be selected for that billet. Remember, jobs fill fast so check the latest updated billets in the above links.

NOTE:  The Navy Supply Corps Officers Directory is a valuable tools to determine "Who and Where" Supply Corps officers and billets are located.  However, it is generally ineffective when determining billet roll dates and is not my primary tool for detailing.

THE DETAILING PROCESS
For many of you, this will be your first detailing experience since graduation from NSCS. If coming from an overseas assignment, you should contact me within 10 months of your PRD.   If you are coming from a CONUS based assignment, you should contact me within 8 months of your PRD.  Ideally, we should look to finalize your orders as we approach your 4-6 month window if not earlier.  In your search, you should review the above links for billet opportunities.  You must clear the GSA Detailer prior to negotiating your Shore Duty orders,  please review the GSA website and contact the GSA detailer prior to contacting me.  If you select a GSA, you are entitled to a bundle follow-on detail.  This means you can negotiate your follow-on assignment as soon as you select your GSA.

REMEMBER, your transfer will depend on the following:  minimum 36 month division officer sea tour, achievement of warfare qualification, identifying a billet ashore for you, your chain of command’s concurrence and identifying a relief for you.

Recommended first shore tours include internships, NSCS Instructor positions, Flag Aide billets and various billets which offer opportunities to earn Additional Qualification Designations (AQD).

SECOND OP TOUR LTs not attending Post Graduate School should first contact the LCDR Shore detailer at 901-874-4601 or DSN 882-4601.

OVERSEAS TOURS
Most of us will complete an overseas tour at least once in our careers.  These tours offer exceptional personal and professional development opportunities.   There is a wide range of billet types and locations available.   Early in your career might be the best time to complete this career milestone.   If you have not yet been stationed overseas, and you are waiting for a department head ride, this is your most likely detail.  Take a look at what is available in the above links and then contact me if you see anything that interests you.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Selections boards are held twice per year (April and October).  If you are interested in an internship, we strongly recommended that you submit your package 12 months prior to your PRD.  Selections are made based on an officer’s sustained superior performance and billet availability.  Billets will be offered to selected officers based on their board ranking and their PRD, so be aware of all the possible locations your requested program has listed.  If you are selected, you will go to an internship billet at one of the available locations.  GSA candidates are encouraged to submit a package, even though you may serve your GSA before the internship.  Normally, NACO interns will do their GSA after their required internship training.  Warfare qualification is not a prerequisite for submitting your package, however, you must obtain it before you depart your operational tour, it is vital to career progression!  Note: At completion of an internship officers must agree to remain on active duty for an additional tour that's defined length is 12 months or greater.

Your package should be received no later than the specified deadline for each board and must contain the following enclosures, at a minimum:

NOTE: REMOVE ALL PII/SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS FROM ALL DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO SUBMISSION.

  1. Endorsement letter from Commanding Officer
  2. Additional endorsement letters (optional)
  3. Warfare qualification letter (by time you transfer)
  4. All Previous Fitness Reports
  5. Any career information not yet posted to ODC/OSR/PSR
  6. College transcripts (for all candidates) *ensure transcripts are legible

If you have submitted an internship package and would like to know if we have received it or have any other questions please contact the Internship Coordinator at 901-874-4273 or DSN 882-4273.

The deadline for the October 2013 board is 25 September 2013.  For package format, please use Naval Supply Systems Command Supply Corps Internship Program (NAVSUPINST 1520.5 dated 31 October 2012) at:

http:///www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/officer/Detailing/rlstaffcorps/supply/Documents/NAVSUPINST%201520.5.pdf.pdf

or https://wwwa.nko.navy.mil/portal/supplycorpsofficers/home

or Naval Logistics Library website located at https://nll.ahf.nmci.navy.mil

You are not limited to three internship program preferences (i.e. ILS, NACO, OPLOG-POL), feel free to apply to all programs that interest you.  In addition, realize with the exception of transcripts, all correspondence you include in your internship package is used for board purposes only and does not permanently update your official record.

Notification of selection will be via FLASH FROM THE CHIEF so please be patient.  Billet assignments will be based on a combination of board rankings, CO-LO requirements, program manager inputs, and individuals going to GSAs.  You will not leave your command until your PRD and/or your relief is onboard.  The ship is more important than your internship.

NOMINATIVE BILLETS:
Nominative billets include NSCS Instructor Duty, Flag Aide, Presidential and Naval Reactor billets.  In order to be considered for one of these positions, you will need to submit a complete application package (as noted below) to me via email. One PDF file is preferred.
