All O-4 and below detailing is done in the Supply Corps detailing "pit" by four detailers. Each detailer is assigned the responsibility of a specific pay grade and billet type to detail, though we work closely together as each detail tends to affect what is being worked at another desk. Our goal is to match officers with the billets that best align with Supply Corps community milestones, balancing your professional needs and personal desires to the needs of the Navy.

To discuss orders, I encourage you to make contact and submit specific billet preferences when you are within twelve (12) months of your PRD. Billets rolling in the next twelve (12) months are posted to this website...click on the above link. The billet list is dynamic...billets are removed as they become filled or unfunded. I encourage you to submit specific billet preferences for jobs in close proximity to your PRD...close proximity is defined to be one month before and three months after your current PRD (MILPERSMAN 1301-104 para 2.a.2).
Prospective LCDR officer assignments are socialized with all commands with a Supply Corps CAPT or CDR afloat. This socialization affords the prospective gaining commands a courtesy review of an officer's Officer Record Brief (ORB) prior to orders being initiated. The ORB contains information similar to that which appears on the Officer Data Card. I will submit a slate of records to the command roughly seven (7) months prior to the detaching individual's PRD, with my goal of a selection being made and orders cut at the 5-6 month mark.
- Operational Duty. All officers are operational tour candidates unless rotating from an operational tour. Operational duty consists of those commands that deploy or directly support deploying units. These tours are two years in length.
- CONUS Shore Duty. If you are rotating from sea duty and are already a LCDR or you are screening for LCDR in the same CY as your PRD, and you have completed an overseas tour, then you are a shore duty candidate. The first step is to review the available billets and then contact me. We will discuss your desires, identify your career needs and review the jobs I have available.
- Overseas Duty. Candidates for oversea duty are LCDRs and LTs zoning for LCDR who have not been overseas as an officer. We first ask those who have not been sent overseas to take an overseas tour before asking someone to take multiple overseas tours. Tour lengths vary by geographic location and accompanied status. Please contact me to discuss specific tour lengths.
A masters degree is a critical milestone for promotion to CDR. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to obtain your advanced degree through one of the many programs offered.
Junior Service College is an excellent way to both obtain your Master’s degree and enter the joint/operational logistics arena. The Service College program prepares naval officers for joint assignments and greater responsibilities through joint professional military education. Assignment is based on Junior Service College selection, quota availability, career needs and individual desires. Junior Service College is available to both LCDRs and LCDR selects.
