Graduate Education - NPS
Most FAOs requiring a Masters degree will be given orders to NPS. Admission to NPS requires a qualifying Academic Profiling Code (APC). All prospective and newly selected FAOs should request an APC from NPS immediately if not already on file.
Joint Professional Military Education
The FAO Community typically has one quota per quarter to send a FAO (who has already completed JPME I) to JPME II at JCWS in Norfolk, VA. Contact the detailer to inquire about timing and availability.
Global Masters of Arts Program (GMAP) II
GMAP II is a 12 month course of study in international affairs leading to a Master of Arts degree in International Relations fromthe Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University located in Medford, Massachusetts. GMAP II is specifically designed for mid-career level professionals. The program combines three two-week residency sessions with state-of-the-art internet-based courses of study. The one year program is presented in trimester form with three courses presented the first and second trimesters, and two courses plus a thesis in the third trimester.
The graduate studies program is intended to enhance the skills of selected civilian and military personnel working in international affairs positions. By participating with other U.S. government agencies, defense industry personnel and international affairs personnel will improve their knowledge, skills and personal networks leading to quick, effective solutions to the challenges of an ever-changing world.
