Welcome to the SELRES Medical Officer Community Manager page. This page is designed to provide an overview of the medical communities (Medical Corps (MC), Dental Corps (DC), Medical Service Corps (MSC) and Nurse Corps (NC)) and to provide direction for additional support.
Navy Medicine maintains the right workforce to deliver medical capabilities across the full range of military operations through the appropriate mix of accession, retention, education, and training incentives. The Navy Total Force maximizes the continuum of service, yet some active duty missions are not echoed in the Navy Reserve Component (RC). Some specialties are available for active duty service members only. Navy Officer Veterans can drill with the Voluntary Training Units or request a change of designator in order to obtain further navy specific training and accumulate points toward retirement. Some specialties need to be filled by officers trained on active duty for the particular specialty (e.g. Aviation Medicine, also known as Flight Surgery (15A0)). Bonuses are available to certain specialties; please check with a local navy medical recruiter or the Career Transition Office (PERS-9X) for the current authorizations.
