Recruiting can be very rewarding with plenty of incentives. How about recruiting in your hometown or close to the location of your choice? How about earning more money? Recruiting offers Special Duty Assignment Pay (SDAP) of $450.00 per month…that’s $5,400 extra a year! You may also be entitled to the use of a Government Vehicle, a Gas Card, a Cellular Phone, meritorious advancement (RCAP), Training (Sales Skills), and a Laptop Computer for use in your duties.
RCAP (Recruiting Command Advancement Program) – At sea, the Navy has the CAP Program (Command Advancement Program). In Recruiting, it’s the RCAP Program. Both are essentially the same. They are meritorious promotion opportunities, which are awarded to those individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty. To qualify for RCAP, you have to maintain superb, superior performance and be a top Recruiter for your station. You can put on another Chevron for your hard work and dedication.
Training (Sales Skills) – To become a recruiter, you will learn that Communication and Customer Service are major factors for successful Recruiting. We believe in the motto “the customer is always right”. In order to obtain these basic skills and others, we will send you to our 5 week Recruiting School in sunny Pensacola, FL, upon transfer from your command. Upon graduation you will report to your district. Please reference MILPERSMAN 1306-964 for more information.

First: If you are in pay grade E5 to E8 (with a good record of service, and a current security clearance), the first step is to take the Recruiter Aptitude Battery assessment. Logon on to https://militaps.nmci.navy.mil/rab . The assessment will require about thirty minutes and based on your answers will help determine your likelihood of success and enjoyment of the unique challenges of recruiting. There is no “pass” or “fail”, probability for successful tours are based on the historical data of previous recruiters who have completed the assessment and a tour as a Recruiter.
Second: Call your rating detailer and request to be released to special programs for Recruiting. Each rating branch is required to nominate a percentage of their rating population for recruiting each month. While some ratings are not eligible, others have a great chance of selection should they request assignment.
Last: Get your screening completed! Once your nomination is received you have 30 days to complete the screening requirements and submit. The eligibility is strict, you must have a favorably adjudicated NACLC or be eligible for a secrete clearance. Those who do not qualify in the end may find themselves in the “Needs of the Navy” window of their PRDs if they take too long to complete the screening only to find out they do not qualify.

**Those Navy Recruiting Districts in RED have limited billets available, so be aware that they may no longer be available when you request them.**
For any Chief Billets please contact the Recruiting Detailer as there is a very limited availability at this time.
In order to be released to Recruiting please contact your rating detailer and negotiate for the district of your choice. Once that district is available the detailer will release you to Shore Special Programs for Recruiting.
You will not find out the Ultimate Duty Assignment (UDA), inside of your District, until after you have completed your Recruiter Duty Screening Package and received your hard copy orders. At that time only, you will contact the Chief Recruiter of your District to negotiate for your UDA.
Once you have been released, reference the MILPERSMAN Article 1306-964, and NAVPERS 1306-93(REV. 12-2013) and if necessary or if you have questions contact the POC’s below to complete your orders.
