Cryptologic Technician Technical (CTT)  

Rating Information
We provide the capability to rapidly evaluate organic and nonorganic information, characterizing the electromagnetic battlespace, formulating effective Electronic Attack (EA)/ Protect (EP) response options, and executing effects based operations designed to ensure information dominance. We are one of the few ratings in the Navy who can perform their mission on aircraft, surface ships, submarines, ashore and with special warfare combat crews.

CTT skills are organized into three areas of concentration

1. Electronic Warfare (EW) Operator
CTT's maintain the watch with the expertise to monitor the radar electromagnetic spectrum for indications and warning of threats to unit safety in a networked Electronic Support (ES) environment. Duties include collection, tactical analysis, reporting, and fusion of organic EW information with national data, as well as performing maintenance on EW systems. EW operators are responsible for formulating and executing electronic attack and protect options as dictated by the tactical situation. Eighty percent of CTT's complete their first tour in this concentration area at sea.

2. National Operational ELINT (OPELINT) Analysis
CTT's at national sites conduct OPELINT analysis and report to operational and tactical Commanders in support of force protection, indications and warning, and time sensitive targeting requirements.  OPELINT duties are performed ashore, on surface ships and attached to Special Warfare combat crews.

3. Technical ELINT (TECHELINT)
CTT's provide expertise in TECHELINT, a critical long-term component to successful EW and Information Operations (IO). AT our signals analysis laboratories, fleet information warfare centers, and national sites, CTT's perform TECHELINT analysis, measuring and describing signal characteristics, modes, functions, and capabilities of the electronics associated with threat weapon systems and ensure this information is resident in tactical EW libraries. We ensure that our EW capabilities are designed,  constructed, implemented and manned in a manner that allows forward deployed U.S. Navy forces to dominate the electromagnetic environment.  TECHELINT duties are performed ashore, on submarines, and aircraft.
