Reenlistment or Extension in the IRR
Who are eligible for Reenlistment/Extension?
IRR enlisted members in paygrades E3 and above may apply for reenlistment or extension within 12 months prior to their Expiration of Obligated Service (EOS) date provided all eligibility requirements are met. In addition, IRR members who have been discharged within 90 days from their discharge date, were recommended for reenlistment, and met all eligibility requirements may apply for reenlistment through PERS-93.
Members who do not meet the eligibility criteria, do not respond to correspondence, do not keep NAVPERSCOM (PERS-933) informed of their current address, or do not remain a mobilization asset may not be allowed to reenlist or extend.
How do I request for reenlistment or extension?
Reenlistment request may be done by completing a NAVPERS 1070/883 30 days prior to EOS to avoid delays and submitting it to PERS-93 as directed on the form or e-mailing the request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please ensure you provide complete and accurate information including full name, rate, SSN, term of reenlistment or extension, your current mailing address, as well as home and work phone numbers. If you prefer to be contacted by e-mail, please include your e-mail address.
All requests must be signed and dated, certifying that "To the best of my knowledge and belief, my physical condition is substantially the same as when I was last physically examined by the Navy."
How does the process work?
Upon receipt of your reenlistment/extension request, Pers-93 will route the request for approval. A reenlistment/extension package will be mailed to you in approximately 4 to 6 weeks. After you have completed the directions contained in your reenlistment/extension contract, return the package to Pers-93. A copy of the completed contract and information on obtaining a new ID card will be mailed to you when your reenlistment/extension has been processed.
