The FY-05 National Defense Authorization Act requires all reserve commissioned officers on the Active Duty List (ADL) to be transitioned to a regular officer status, provided they meet the requirements for appointment as a regular Officer under Section 532 of Title 10, U. S. Code.
Reserve commissioned officers on the ADL who do not meet the requirements for appointment as a regular officer under Section 532 of Title 10, U. S. Code may continue to serve on the ADL with a reserve appointment, pursuant to applicable provisions of policy and law, until 28 October 2009, or completion of any mandatory active duty service obligation existing on 1 May 2005, whichever is later. After 28 October 2009, all commissioned officers on the ADL must hold a regular appointment, be completing an active duty service obligation (ADSO) incurred before 1 May 2005, or have a waiver from the Secretary of Defense. This policy does not preclude the transfer of reserve officers from the ADL to the Reserve Active Status List (RASL).
Affected officers can determine their status by logging onto Bupers Online (BOL). As augmentation results are approved status will be updated.

Augmentation Approval Status – (Updated 27 March 2007)
The initial list of those officers that were augmented was posted in BOL in June 2006. A few officers are still pending review by the Secretary of the Navy prior to being augmented. This list of results will be posted once it is available.
An explanation of the various augmentation statuses that will be used in BOL are provided below.
Note: “No Augmentation Status Received” means the initial augmentation status for your grade has not been posted. Augmentation status will be posted by grade starting with Captain. After the first augmentation results for a grade are approved, an initial status for all officers in that grade will be posted.
· Augmented – Augmentation of reserve commissioned officer has been approved. Designator for officer will be changed from XXX5 to XXX0. No action required by augmented officer. Officers’ rights and obligations remain unchanged and their oath of office remains in effect. Officers approved for augmentation will not have the option to decline augmentation.
· Pending Approval – Augmentation request has been submitted for approval. Officers in the grades of O6 to O4 (including LTs selected for LCDR) must be confirmed by the Senate before augmentation can occur. Officers in the grades of O3 and below must be approved by the Secretary of Defense before augmentation can occur.
· Pending Further Review – Officers who do not initially meet requirements for appointment as a regular officer under Title 10, U.S. Code, will be further reviewed until final eligibility is determined. Once eligibility is determined status will be updated in BOL. For further information on eligibility requirements, see eligibility section on this webpage.
· Approved Release From Active Duty – Officers with an approved Release from Active Duty will not be augmented.
· Not Eligible – Officer does not meet requirements for augmentation. List of eligibility requirements are provided on this webpage.
· Not Augmented – Officers eligible for augmentation, but whose augmentation would require them, by law, to immediately retire from active service will not be augmented to allow their continued active service.
