Navy Retention Monitoring System (NRMS)
NRMS replaced the two legacy retention reporting systems – Navy Retention (NAVRET) database and Retention Monitoring System (RMS). NRMS fulfills the Navy’s requirement to be able to report and analyze retention data. This joint project was developed in cooperation with the Fleets. NRMS takes Retention Analysis to new levels of capability by providing the tools necessary in monitoring and analyzing retention so that the Navy can effectively deliver the right Sailor, with the right skills, to the right place, at the right time.
NRMS is relatively easy to use. Broken down into Career Counselor, Cube, and Ad Hoc reports NRMS has something for every user.
Career Counselor (list style) reports are pre-formatted and the user can choose from drop-down menu selections to tailor their query. List reports include all the reports NAVRET offered Retention – Attrition (RET-ATT), Transaction, Honor Roll Reports, etc. Each month, the unit CCC will be able to run their own stats for their CO.
The multi-dimensional (cube style) report is utilized by ISIC/TYCOM/Fleet and N1 Staff level users that support in-depth retention analysis. For example, in a few seconds, you can get a spreadsheet style report with attrition data as far back as 1992. Analysts can filter these cubes (slice and dice) the data by an incredible range of demographics. If you want attrition data for a specific rating at a specific command, by gender, zone, etc, over the past 10 years you are just a few clicks away. The data is easily turned into any type of chart that you prefer. These cube reports are what ECM analysts use to pull retention data for reporting and retention goal setting. When the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP) reports to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) or testifies before Congress, cube reports are used to pull the data he needs to talk to Navy’s Retention.
The Ad Hoc analysis capability is very powerful. Super-users will have a nearly infinite combination of queries available.
