USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69)
Command Master Chief Mangin is a native of Yonkers, New York. He joined the Navy directly after graduating high school and reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes in August 1993.
Command Master Chief Mangin’s initial sea tour was on USS MERRIMACK (AO 179) where he served as a Deck Seaman and Work Center Supervisor for his Underway Replenishment Division. Upon completion of his tour, Master Chief Mangin reported to USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) and is a designated Plank Owner. His next tour of duty was USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) where he was assigned as the Deck Department Leading Petty Officer. In 2002 Master Chief Mangin reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes where he trained 10 divisions consisting of over 900 recruits. He was also an instructor at the Navy’s only school for Recruit Division Commanders. In 2006 he reported to USS ASHLAND as Deck Department LCPO and completed two deployments to the 5th Fleet AOR.
Command Master Chief Mangin was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2008 with follow on duty as the Command Senior Chief for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 6 in Portsmouth, VA. While assigned to MSRON-6 he was deployed to the 5th Fleet AOR in support of Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection efforts. He was also the Senior Enlisted Advisor for all Maritime Expeditionary Forces during Operation Unified Response in Haiti. Upon completion of that tour he reported as the Command Senior Chief aboard USS ELROD (FFG 55). Upon completion of his tour on ELROD he transferred to USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) as Command Master Chief where he served from 2012-2015. In May of 2015 he reported to the Naval Leadership and Ethics Center as the Surface Instructor and course manager for the CMC/COB Course.
Command Master Chief Mangin is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 141 Gold and the Command Master Chief Course Class 51 in Newport, Rhode Island. In 2016 he completed the Navy’s Senior Leader Seminar at the Navy Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He is qualified as Master Training Specialist.
Command Master Chief Mangin reported to USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69)(IKE) in July 2017.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars various other personal and unit awards. He has also earned his Surface Warfare, Aviation Warfare and Expeditionary Warfare Specialist qualifications. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Management from American Military University.
