Command Master Chief (FMF/SW)
Charles D. Slaton, USN
Master Chief Slaton was born in Magnolia, Arkansas and raised in Parsons Tennessee. He entered the U.S. Navy in
February 1992 and attended Recruit Training and Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes, Illinois.
His first duty assignment was USS RECLAIMER (ARS 42) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Other assignments include: Navy
Operational Support Center Whidbey Island, Washington; Branch Medical Clinic Navy Air Station New Orleans, Louisiana;
1st Battalion 23d Marines 4th Marine Division where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II-II as the
Battalion Chief; Navy Reserve Professional Development Center New Orleans, Louisiana as Department Head for the Reserve
Medical Administration and Officer Leadership programs; Commander Navy Reserve Forces Command as the Force Medical
Senior Enlisted Advisor; USS BOONE (FFG 28) as the Command Master Chief and is currently assigned to VR 58 as the
Command Master Chief.
Master Chief’s schools include, Field Medical Service School Camp Pendleton, California graduating as the Senior Honor
Graduate. He also graduated with honors from Radiology Technician School in San Diego, California; Instructor Training in
Pensacola, Florida; the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 127, Khaki Group) and the Command Master Chief
Course (Class 61) in Newport, Rhode Island. He has an Associates Degree from Skagit Valley College and a Baccalaureate
Degree from Columbia Southern University.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards),
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Combat Action Ribbon and various other personal and unit
awards.
