Commander Alan M. D’Jock was born in Kaukauna, WI and raised in Sachse, TX. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Following graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL and was commissioned in May 1997. He completed flight training at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in May 1998.
Following completion of initial P-3 Orion flight training, he reported to Patrol Squadron FOUR FIVE (VP-45) at NAS Jacksonville in March 1999. He qualified as Tactical Coordinator (TACCO), Mission Commander, and Instructor TACCO. He completed two split-site deployments to Iceland and Puerto Rico and one 6th Fleet AOR deployment to Sigonella, Sicily in support of Operation JOINT GUARDIAN (Kosovo) in 2000.
In August 2002, Commander D’Jock joined Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30), the P-3 Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), at NAS Jacksonville. He served as the Human Resources Officer, NFO Schedules Officer, and NFO Fleet NATOPS Officer. He qualified as a FRS Instructor TACCO, Instructor-Under-Training Instructor, and Fleet NATOPS Evaluator.
In March 2005, he reported to the USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) at NS Norfolk as an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Officer (Shooter). While on board, he qualified as a Helicopter Control Officer, Officer of the Deck (In-Port), Assistant Command Duty Officer, and Command Duty Officer (Underway). Additionally, he served as the Bow Catapult Branch Officer, V-3 Division Officer, and V-2 Division Officer.
Commander D’Jock was selected to attend the Naval War College, Newport, RI in August 2007 and graduated in 2008 with a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies and JPME 1.
Following NWC graduation, he reported to Patrol Squadron TEN (VP-10) at NAS Brunswick, ME for his Department Head tour in November 2008. He served as the Command Services Officer, Training Officer, and Operations Officer. During VP-10’s 2009 split-site deployment to CENTCOM and AFRICOM AORs, he was the Officer in Charge of the Djibouti, Africa detachment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In April 2011, Commander D’Jock once again reported to VP-30 where he served as the FRS Training Officer. He was responsible for the training and daily conduct of all officer and enlisted aircrew positions in the P-3C Orion and P-8A Poseidon. In July 2012, he led the first MPRF aircraft transition in 50 years from the venerable P-3 to P-8.
Commander D’Jock’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
Commander D’Jock is married to the former Hayley Cochran of Pensacola, FL. They are blessed with three daughters, Mallory, Landry, and Avery.
