Commander Klosterman is a native of Coldwater, OH.  He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  After commissioning, he checked into the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in June 2000.  He earned his Naval Aviator wings in September 2001.
 
After receiving initial P-3C training with Patrol Squadron THREE ZERO (VP-30) at NAS Jacksonville, FL he reported to the ‘Grey Knights’ of Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX (VP-46) in Whidbey Island, WA.  He deployed to FIFTH Fleet in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM in the fall of 2002 and spring 2003.  In 2004 he deployed to SEVENTH Fleet in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  His duties included Assistant Schedules Officer, Flight Officer, Aviation Safety Officer, Pilot NATOPS Officer and primary squadron pilot NATOPS instructor. 
 
In May 2005, Commander Klosterman joined VP-30 as a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor Pilot.  While there, he served as Aviation Safety Officer, Assistant Pilot Training Officer and the Instructor Under Training/Standardization Pilot (IUT/STAN) where he trained and qualified all incoming FRS Instructor Pilots.   He earned his qualifications as a FRS IUT Instructor Pilot, FRS NATOPS Evaluator, Fleet IUT Instructor Pilot and FRS Instructor Pilot. 
 
In March 2008, Commander Klosterman reported aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) in San Diego, CA as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer.  During his time on USS NIMITZ, he was assigned as the V-2 Division Officer and “Top Cat,” responsible for training and standardization of its cadre of Shooters.  While aboard he completed two combat deployments, one to SEVENTH Fleet and one to FIFTH Fleet. 
 
In July 2010, he joined the ‘War Eagles’ of Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN (VP-16) in Jacksonville, FL for his department head tour.  While there, he completed a tri-site deployment to FOURTH, FIFTH and SIXTH Fleets in 2010 and a SEVENTH Fleet deployment in 2012.  His duties included Safety/NATOPS Officer, Detachment OIC, Quality Assurance Officer, and Maintenance Officer. 
 
In July 2012, Commander Klosterman was assigned to the Staff/Restricted Line Officer Distribution Division (PERS-44) at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, TN.  While there he served as the Washington, D.C. Placement Officer.
 
In May 2016, CDR Klosterman assumed the duties of Executive Officer, Patrol Squadron TWO SIX (VP-26) in Jacksonville, Florida.
 
CDR Klosterman became the 72nd Commanding Officer of Patrol Squadron TWO SIX (VP-26) in May 2017.
 
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (1st Strike), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 Awards) with Valor, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign/unit awards.
