Clarke F. Craine, CDR, USN
Commanding Officer


Commander Clarke F. Craine was born in Key West, Florida, and is a 1996 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University.

Commander Craine was designated a naval aviator in June 1999, and reported to Fighter Squadron ONE HUNDRED ONE (VF-101), where he completed fleet replacement training in the F-14 Tomcat. In May 2000, he reported to Fighter Squadron ONE HUNDRED FORTY THREE (VF-143) aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER flying combat missions in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH. In February 2002, he deployed aboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY flying combat missions in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Commander Craine was selected to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in 2004, with follow-on orders to Strike Fighter Weapons School, Atlantic, where he served as the Air-to-Air Employment Subject Matter Expert and as NATOPS Officer, Training Officer, and Safety Officer. In January 2006, Commander Craine reported to Strike Fighter Squadron THIRTY TWO (VFA-32) as Training Officer.

In March 2007, he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron TWO (VFA-2), where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer, Safety Officer, Operations Officer, and Maintenance Officer aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN flying combat missions in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. During his tenure at VFA-2 the squadron received the 2008 Battle “E” and the Rear Admiral C. Wade McClusky Award as the Navy’s top Strike Fighter squadron.

In October 2009, Commander Craine reported to the Joint Staff in the Pentagon, Washington, DC at the National Military Command Center. He served as Assistant Deputy Director for Operations, Senior Emergency Actions Officer and Nuclear Strike Advisor in direct support of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States.

Commander Craine’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike Flight Air Medal (Two Awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (Two Awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (Three Awards), and various campaign and service awards.
