A native of Seattle, Washington, CDR Aamodt graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned as Ensign in May of 1996. Following SNFO training in Pensacola, he received initial F-14 Tomcat training at NAS Oceana with the Grim Reapers of VF-101.

Upon completion of the FRS, LTJG Aamodt reported as a Radar Intercept Officer with the World Famous Pukin’ Dogs of VF-143. During two Mediterranean/Arabian Gulf deployments, he flew in the F-14B while supporting Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM.

In June 2002, LT Aamodt commenced the first of three tours in Lemoore, CA. After transitioning to the Super Hornet, he served as an Instructor WSO with VFA-122 until October 2005. During his time with the Flying Eagles, he earned an Executive Masters of Business administration via the Naval Postgraduate School distance-learning program.

Following the FRS, he served as Strike Operations Officer with CVW-9 for his third deployment, which also supported operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. In April 2007, LCDR Aamodt reported to Strike Fighter Squadron TWO as a Department Head, where he again deployed in 2008 for combat operations in the Middle East.

LCDR Aamodt reported to VFA-106 in December 2009 to serve as the Training Officer. CDR Aamodt joined the Fighting Checkmates of VFA-211 in May of 2012 and served as Executive Officer. He has logged over 2,600 hours in the F-14 and F-18, and his personal decorations include the Air Medal Strike/Flight award with numeral “4” as well as the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards).
